¦ Cavotec Airports Unit Wins Ground Support Equipment Orders in France, Guinea, Qatar and Senegal: The largest of these orders is for a fuel hydrant system at the new Diagne International Airport, near the Senegalese capital Dakar. This is the first fully integrated
fuel hydrant package supplied by Cavotec Middle East in cooperation with partners. Cavotec has been awarded this contract through Saudi company, Isam Kabbani and Co., a sub-contractor of SBG. Cavotec engineers, in collaboration with electrical engineering group, Cegelec, are to supply and oversee the installation of 85 DAB-22 fuel hydrant pits, 51 Cla-Val fuel hydrant pit valves, 14 fuel high point vents, 20 fuel low point drain pits, 122 DAB-18 vault access covers, 30 valve chamber access covers and 19 motorized double block and bleed valves. In addition, a leak detection system is supplied to provide a quick and accurate location of the source of a leak in the fuel hydrant line.
¦ Swissport International and Swiss International Air Lines Extend Collaboration: The new contract for 2010-2015 covers all ground handling at SWISS’s three Swiss airports, with a total annual volume of about 64,000 flights.
The new contract includes: all passenger and baggage handling services; all ramp services; deicing and various further airport services and customer processes.
¦ Mandala Airlines in Macau Awards Ground Handling Contract to Menzies: Menzies announced the award of the ground handling contract by Mandala Airlines in Macau. Mandala Airlines is a low-cost carrier in Indonesia. They will operate three flights per week between Jakarta and Macau. The award of the ground handling contract contributes to the development of Menzies’ Macau station. The company will provide full ground handling services for the carrier, ranging from ramp, passenger, cargo to aircraft maintenance services for a two-year period.
¦ TAS Wins Warehousing Contract with NCA at LAX: On July 1, 2010, Total Airport Services (TAS) expanded its cargo warehousing aviation services at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by adding Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) to its list of customers. TAS is now NCA’s sole warehousing service provider in California having also provided service to NCA in in SFO since November 2007.
¦ Swissport-Losch and Lufthansa Sign Six-year Contract for Munich Hub: Swissport-Losch, the aviation services provider that has held a ground handling license for Munich Airport since March of this year,
has concluded a six-year contract with Deutsche Lufthansa AG to provide ground handling for the carrier’s Canadair and Embraer aircraft types. The contract, which covers a business volume of about 700 flights a week, will enter into effect on Jan. 1, 2011. The new contract, which covers a quarter of Lufthansa’s Munich-based fleet, enters into effect on Jan. 1, 2011, and will extend to some 700 flights
a week — more than twice Swissport-Losch’s current business volume. About 300 new personnel will be recruited to handle the expanded activities.
¦ ATS Announces Agreement to Purchase Wing Tips Airport Services: Airport Terminal Services (ATS) announced the purchase of Wing Tips Inc. (Wing Tips), a Calgary International Airport customer service provider, effective Aug. 16, 2010. The transaction is a strategic development of relationships with international carriers as well as growing the ATS service offering of passenger services. Wing Tips provides passenger services and airport representation at the Calgary International Airport for a roster of customers, including Air North, CanJet, Enerjet, Edelweiss, Thomas Cook, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Miami Air, Monarch and Sunquest.
¦ Checkport and Octavian Become Franchise Partners: UK security company, Octavian Security, has announced its entry into the world aviation security market, as the company has become the official UK security arm of Swissport International — by taking ownership of the Checkport UK franchise. Checkport is a security subsidiary of Swissport International.
¦ Lufthansa and bmi Select Menzies for Ground Handling Operations at LHR: Menzies Aviation announced that Lufthansa and bmi have selected Menzies to provide full ramp handling services for their operations at London Heathrow Airport from Oct. 1, 2010. Lufthansa and bmi together currently operate a total of 672 weekly flights to and from Heathrow.
¦ ASIG Commences Refueling Operations at London City Airport: ASIG announced that it has commenced aircraft refueling operations at London City Airport (LCY) on behalf of Shell Aviation. Shell recently signed a concession agreement to operate as a fuel supplier at the airport. ASIG is refueling more than 60 percent of the airport’s daily flights. ASIG now provides into plane refueling services on behalf of Shell at six international airports.
