"Despite the passage of two decades, the memories of 9/11 and the tragic losses of that day remain fresh in our minds and heavy on our hearts.” — AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli.

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the largest professional organization representing individuals who work at and manage the nation’s public-use commercial and general aviation airports, issued the following statement regarding the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001:

“Despite the passage of two decades, the memories of 9/11 and the tragic losses of that day remain fresh in our minds and heavy on our hearts,” AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli said. “In the face of unthinkable grief and uncertainty for our country and the aviation system it depends on, we united, resolved to honor those lost and to protect future generations from harm. The progress we have made in 20 years to enhance aviation security is remarkable, and a testament to the commitment, dedication, and resiliency of airport professionals and our industry and government partners. We will never forget those lost nor lessen our resolve to honor their memory.”
