Sept. 13, 2018

Silver Airways on Sept. 13, started daily nonstop service between Huntsville International Airport (HSV) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).

“We are very excited to start this highly-requested nonstop service for business and leisure travelers from Alabama and the Tennessee Valley travelling to the attractions, beaches and businesses of Central Florida, including NASA and Florida’s Space Coast,” said Alabama native and Silver Airways Vice President David LeNoir. “We are delighted with the support and outstanding reception from the folks in the Tennessee Valley for our safe, affordable, and friendly air service.”

“Today we launch Silver Airways as a new carrier for not only Huntsville International Airport, but also in the state of Alabama,” stated Betty Fletcher, chairman, board of directors, Huntsville International Airport. “The addition of Orlando and Central Florida to the list of nonstop destinations for our market has been received with great excitement since this was previously one of the most requested new destinations by our passengers. We are pleased to have Silver Airways fulfilling that request and flying HSV.”

“Our push to offer more non- stops to our top destinations has brought us another outstanding airline to better serve North Alabama, said Tommy Battle, mayor of the city of Huntsville. “We welcome Silver Airways to our host of air carriers and encourage the community to take advantage of this competitive option for their travels. Let’s make Huntsville International Airport our port of choice for the region.”

“Attracting and sustaining new air service is a community-wide matter that affects each and every one of us – both the leisure traveler and the business traveler,” said Rick Tucker, executive director, Huntsville International Airport. “Launching this service from Huntsville to Orlando is an excellent step to providing all of the citizens of the Tennessee Valley more air travel options and savings. Support from the business community and our residents is integral to attracting and sustaining service like this in Huntsville and so we encourage everyone to fly HSV and Silver Airways so that we can continue to provide more air travel options to more destinations and with lower fares.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Silver Airways to Huntsville International Airport and Madison County, Alabama”, said Dale W. Strong, chairman of the Madison County Commission. “As our region continues to expand in both economic development and sustained growth, it is important to residents of Madison County and our region they have competitive choices in airlines. We look forward to the future of Silver Airways as a strong community partner here in Madison County.”

“Huntsville, Alabama and Central Florida have a lot in common, from deep roots in the space program to new air service from Silver,” says Phil Brown, chief executive officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “This latest air service addition from Silver Airways cements those ties and opens new opportunities for business and leisure travel.”

To initiate the new service, Huntsville International Airport hosted a ceremony this morning to formally welcome Silver Airways into the community with a ribbon cutting with Silver officials, including CEO Steve Rossum and Senior Vice President Kurt Brulisauer. To commemorate the maiden flight, Silver’s flight crew included all Alabamians led by Captain Joshua Walters, assisted by First Officer Jeffrey Rogers and Flight Attendant Rachel Peacock.

The new Huntsville – Orlando route will be operated initially with Silver’s fleet of Saab 340 aircraft. Later this year, Silver looks forward to introducing its brand new fleet of ATR-600 aircraft on the route. Silver is proud to be the North American launch customer for the all new, state-of-the-art ATR-600. The new ATR-600 provides a refined guest experience with rich leather seating, more leg room, and spacious overhead bins that accommodate full-size, carry-on roller bags. Today’s ATRs embody the most advanced aircraft technology available with the latest avionics and all-glass cockpit that ensures safe, reliable flights that are quieter and more comfortable for passengers.
