Modernized John Glenn International Receives Industry Customer Experience Award

March 8, 2017

John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), which celebrated completion of its $80 million terminal modernization last year, was named the most improved airport in North America when Airport Council International announced its 2016 Airport Service Quality Award recipients. Later this month the airport will also receive a 2016 EXPY Award from Experience Columbus, the region’s convention and visitors bureau, for the modernization’s contribution to the local hospitality industry.

“Passengers appreciate the ease of traveling through John Glenn International and rave about the modernized, contemporary terminal that showcases natural lighting and meaningful amenities such as free high-speed wi-fi, more than 2,000 charging outlets, new comfortable and colorful furniture, local dining options and much more,” said Elaine Roberts, President & CEO. “We’re honored to receive these awards and remain committed to creating an exceptional travel experience. Even more improvements are on the way in 2017 and beyond.”

John Glenn International has several customer-focused projects underway:

  • Curb front improvements: New glass doors, vibrant lighting and more are being installed to reflect the contemporary terminal.
  • Checkpoint expansion: Expanding the Concourse C checkpoint to accommodate growing demand.
  • Nursing rooms: Lactation rooms for nursing mothers will soon be available at John Glenn International and the Rickenbacker Charter Terminal.
  • Updated customer service kiosks: These touch-screen monitors throughout the airport feature in-terminal maps, upcoming Columbus event information and more.
  • New concessions: Concourse C concessions will be updated while The Local, offering a collection of Columbus’ favorite menu items, will open in Concourse B.
