Busy Summer Season Forecasted for Thunder Bay

June 29, 2016

With additional seat capacity in the local market, Thunder Bay International Airports Authority (TBIAA) is expecting a busy summer travel season. TBIAA is requesting that passengers arrive at least 60 minutes prior to departure time to allow for check-in and security screening lines.

“Morning departures between 6:00am and 7:30am will be particularly busy this summer” predicts President & CEO, Ed Schmidtke. “Up to 700 people will be departing Thunder Bay in that 90-minute window. Allowing time for check-in and security screening will assist greatly in getting the flights out on time.”

Schmidtke also recommends that travellers become familiar with the government security rules on permitted and non-permitted items when packing. “Visiting the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s website is an excellent way to learn what to pack and what to leave at home,” said Schmidtke.
