Delta Air Lines Resumes Nonstop Flights to New York

May 11, 2021

From the Magic City to the Big Apple, Delta Air Lines will resume nonstop flights to New York City with service between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) beginning June 7. The airline will use a 76-seat CRJ-900 aircraft for the reinstated daily service.

“As the demand for travel is growing, we are happy that our customers will have more options and more convenience as they return to the skies and reconnect with friends and family,” said Ronald F. Mathieu, Birmingham Airport Authority president and CEO. “We are pleased to see Delta’s continued investment in Birmingham as they restore flights to and from our community.”

“As New York lifts many of its capacity restrictions in just a few weeks, it’s the perfect time for Delta to bring back convenient, nonstop service to the Big Apple,” said Chuck Imhof, Delta's V.P of Sales - East. “We can’t wait to welcome back Birmingham customers, offering more flights to and from the New York area than any other airline, while always working to provide a safe and enjoyable travel experience.”

With the addition of New York, Delta will offer nonstop service between Birmingham and three destinations, including Atlanta and Detroit for a total of 11 daily departures beginning in June.
