StandardAero, one of the world's largest independent providers of engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, is celebrating 10 years of supporting the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68 turboprop engine which powers the United States Department of Defense’s fleet of Textron Aviation (Beechcraft) T-6 Texan II trainers.
StandardAero was first awarded a subcontract to provide PT6A-68 engine MRO services in support of the T-6 in 2013. The T-6 Texan II family includes five variants: the T-6A and T-6B Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) aircraft operated by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, respectively; the T-6C exportable trainer; the T-6C+ exportable armed variant; and the T-6D, operated by the U.S. Army.
StandardAero initially supported the PT6A-68 from its Winnipeg, MB, location, with test cell correlation achieved in July 2013. Following StandardAero’s acquisition of Vector Aerospace in 2017, and the establishment of a Center of Excellence (COE) for Turboprop Engine MRO in Summerside, PE, the following year, the company’s PT6A-68 activity was transferred to the Summerside facility. To date StandardAero has overhauled and repaired over 500 PT6A-68s, for both the U.S. DoD and international customers.

The company supports the global PT6A operator community from four DOFs located in North America, Europe, Africa and Australasia, backed up by a global network of six service centers and over twenty dedicated mobile repair technicians. PT6A-68 MRO services in support of the global fleet of T-6 Texan II (-68), Pilatus PC-21 (-68B) and Embraer EMB-314/A-29 Super Tucano (-68C) aircraft are provided from StandardAero’s Summerside, PE turboprop engine center of excellence. With more than 55 years of reliable turboprop experience, StandardAero provides operators with a nose-to-tail suite of services, including repair schemes, re-engineering STCs, engine exchanges, rentals and Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM) analysis.
