The AS9110 certification elevates the quality management system at AMS to the globally recognized standard

Chesterland, OH -- Perry Johnson Registrars assessed the Quality management system of Aerospace Maintenance Solutions (AMS) and determined that the company’s Quality system is in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and AS9110:2009 Rev A requirements. AMS’s certificate includes Design, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul of Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic System Components, and Mechanical Accessories for the Defense and Commercial Aircraft Industries.

AS9110 is a quality management system developed by the aerospace industry specifically for aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) organizations in the aerospace industry. Earning the certification includes additional safety, reliability, and airworthiness requirements. The AS9110 standard is complimentary to AS9100 and is based on the ISO 9001 quality management system.

The AS9110 certification elevates the quality management system at AMS to the globally recognized standard. It corresponds to both governmental and regulatory requirements. The “AS” incorporates the Federation Aviation Administration (FAA),  ISO, and self-imposed requirements. MRO requirements also provide important guidance for the FAA. These and other certifications will be especially important to AMS as the company continues to service more of the domestic and international militaries to sustain existing fighters, helicopters, and transports.

AS9110 takes a process-based approach that focuses on identifying the key processes, and then achieving on-going improvements within those processes. There are close to 100 requirements for suppliers, airline companies, aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), FAA-certified repair stations, and regulatory agencies.

AMS customers like the US Air Force, the US Department of Homeland Security, and OEMs (e.g. Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky) will benefit from the ISO 9001:2008 and AS9110:2009 certification. Earning it helps AMS operate and function with the best Quality practices of the aerospace industry.

The new Quality certification is applicable to all levels of the MRO process, including repair evaluations, test procedures, process checklists, and documentation.

AMS is now registered with IAQG/OASIS. At the website linked below, AS9110 certificates are listed in an online database. Users with login credentials can search the website to validate the scope of AMS’s certificate.
