The FAA has granted a PMA to Aerospace Welding Minneapolis, Inc. (AWI) to manufacture and sell new replacement mufflers, shrouds, exhaust risers and tailpipes for the aging Cessna 150 fleet. Cessna first flew the popular 150 trainer aircraft in 1957 and in the ensuing 20 years, they sold nearly 24,000 copies to pilots and flight schools around the world.

All components in the replacement systems are made with 321 stainless steel. Cessna 150 owners can order specific parts or complete systems. A full replacement kit would take an A&P mechanic about an hour to install.

Each part in the replacement exhaust system comes with a 12-month, unlimited hours warranty against workmanship defects. Depending on the type of engine operations and maintenance program, the life of the components will vary. Given the age and total time on some of the Cessna 150s, there are likely quite a few candidates for replacement exhaust systems. Data tags and the information on them will be entered into the engine logbook after installation.
