Creedmoor, NC, June 2012 – Representatives from Twin Commander Aircraft LLC and its network of authorized service centers gathered in Indianapolis recently to review and discuss inspection, maintenance, repair, and upgrade programs for the worldwide fleet of piston- and turboprop-powered Twin Commanders. The biennial event is known as the Twin Commander Service Center Symposium
“We are totally focused on supporting the fleet,” noted Twin Commander Aircraft LLC President Matt Isley, “and the Service Center Symposium is a great way for us to have an open, face-to-face dialog with the folks who keep the fleet in tip-top shape.” Over the three-day symposium numerous dialog sessions were held, including briefings on the latest service and parts issues as well as discussions on how technicians around the service center network are getting things done.
“Our factory-authorized Service Centers represent more than a millennium of hands-on experience. The symposium is a unique opportunity for all of us to leverage that collective knowledge,” Isley said.
The Symposium was held at Eagle Creek Aviation Services, an authorized Twin Commander service center based at Eagle Creek Airpark in northwesternIndianapolis.
The theme of the event was “Setting the Pace,” a reference to the nearby Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and also to the challenge of staying ahead of the pack.
“You provide the best support of any legacy aircraft out there,” Isley told the group. “We need to continue to be out front, talk about what we’re doing and not doing, and hone our best practices to meet the needs of Commander owners. This meeting is about assessing where we are, what challenges we are facing, and making sure we maintain our lead.”
The symposium covered engineering projects underway at Twin Commander Aircraft LLC, a review of parts inventories and needs in the fleet, service bulletin issues, and new upgrade kits. The group also heard from Will Shinew, lead instructor forSimComTrainingCenter’s Twin Commander pilot training program, and Dale Barnard, who manages NationAir Aviation Insurance’s Twin Commander insurance program.
The Twin Commander Service Center Symposium is held on even-numbered years; on odd-numbered years Twin Commander Aircraft hosts theTwin CommanderUniversityfor Twin Commander owners and operators. The next University is scheduled for April 25-27, 2013, inScottsdale,Arizona.
