The remodeled GAT introduces many improvements, including a passenger and crew lounge, enhanced safety measures, a larger ramp and expanded amenities.

Universal Aviation Dominican Republic, chosen by Aerodom-Vinci  in late  2023 to remodel and manage the general aviation terminal at Gregorio Luperón International Airport (MDPP), will be showcasing its complete remodeling of the facility and the proposed construction of a new hangar at NBAA’s Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference 2024.

“We were thrilled to be selected  to oversee the remodeling and management of the Puerto Plata GAT. Our team moved swiftly to upgrade the facility, ensuring it met the high standards and growing demand from high-profile customers visiting the country’s North Coast in time for the peak Spring Break season,” said Adolfo Aragon, senior vice president of Universal Aviation. “It was a very smooth and coordinated process thanks to the support of Aerodom-Vinci and their supportive local team in charge of all the airport operations. With the GAT now fully operational, we anticipate a notable uptick in traffic to Puerto Plata, as the area has seen enormous investment in tourism development.”

The remodeled GAT, now spanning 301 square meters, introduces many improvements, including a passenger and crew lounge complete with immigration services, enhanced safety measures, a larger ramp, and expanded amenities, including a new in-flight catering facility, cafe, and complimentary shoe-shine stand.

Universal Aviation Dominican Republic’s contract to manage the GAT also includes plans to lease land for additional hangar space, signaling a broader strategy to enhance regional aviation services. Introducing remote parking for long-term stays aims to enhance safety and convenience for passengers traveling to the FBO. Additionally, the proximity to a yacht marina enhances the appeal for travelers seeking a seamless luxury experience.

“This development aligns with the government’s significant infrastructure investments in Puerto Plata and renewed interest in promoting the area as a burgeoning tourist destination,” said Danilo Rosario, partner and Universal Aviation Dominican Republic country manager. “Operators can now benefit from top-tier amenities in this strategic location, offering convenient access to the prestigious and world-famous resorts just 1.5 hours away. We have elevated the user experience in Puerto Plata FBO by incorporating exclusive concierge services, valet parking, Barista Coffee, a buffet and signature menu for air catering, covered luggage carts, mini-van transfers to the aircraft, as well as high-speed internet on the ramp.”
