Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport Earns National Award for Airport Training Excellence

Oct. 20, 2020

For the eighth year in a row, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has earned an ANTN Digicast Excellence in Airport Training award.

The award was presented by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) for training completed in calendar year 2019. This honor signifies that the Birmingham Airport Authority’s Operations department has completed a specified amount of federally mandated, airport-specific training and continuing education using ANTN Digicast's web-based training system. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is one of only 130 airports nationwide to earn the honor for 2019.

“We are very pleased to receive this award,” said Ronald F. Mathieu, Birmingham Airport Authority president and CEO. “This award is a testimony to our efforts and shows our dedication and commitment to improving airport operations, preparedness and safety at BHM. We always strive for perfection, knowing that while we may never attain it, we will certainly achieve excellence along the way.”

The award levels are based on the total training programs completed and total number of employees trained at each airport. Award levels vary based on the airport's hub size, and each winning airport is presented with a plaque marking its achievement.
