Aviation ISAC Names Ottawa Airport CEO to Board of Directors

Sept. 21, 2018

The Aviation Information Sharing and Analysis Center (A-ISAC) announced Sept. 21, that it has named Mark Laroche, president and chief executive officer of the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, to its board of directors.

Laroche joins an international board of like-minded leaders from all segments of the industry who are working to build resilience against the ever-evolving and complex cyber threats and vulnerabilities—challenges that damage the reputation of the aviation industry and create negative financial impacts.

“Information sharing, analysis, and collaboration are at the core of the A-ISAC’s mandate, making the addition of an airport executive to the board a logical and important next step in our growth. We welcome Mark’s leadership and look forward to his perspective as we expand our international reach into the airport sector,” said John Craig, A-ISAC board chair. “Cyber threats know no borders — the broader our perspective, the stronger and better prepared we will be to address threats.”

Laroche added, “As a tightly connected industry, any threat to the aviation sector has the potential to cause widespread disruption and damage to the Canadian economy, the global industry, and our clients. For these and many more reasons, it is critical that we arm ourselves with timely and accurate information about threats, trends, best practices, and mitigation strategies. I am very pleased to join the A-ISAC Board and have the opportunity to play a role in strengthening the security of our industry while acting as a conduit to airports and other aviation partners in Canada.”

“Mark was instrumental in bringing 15 Canadian airports, including all Tier 1 or larger airports, as well as five airlines to the table at this year’s 4th Annual NAV Canada Cyber Summit. This was the first comprehensive airport-airline discussion about cybersecurity trends, impacts, and how the aviation industry in Canada can better counter the growing threat” said Jeffrey Troy, A-ISAC executive director. “Mark’s leadership and commitment to continuing the discussion and collaboration among the Canadian stakeholders will make a significant difference to the overall security of the sector.”
