Yvonne Bilshausen Joins HNTB as Aviation Architecture Principal

Yvonne Bilshausen joined HNTB Corp. as aviation architecture principal and vice president, specializing in strategic planning, client management and growth of the firm’s aviation practice. She is based in Chicago and works with clients throughout the country. 

Bilshausen brings more than two decades of airport consulting experience, including design, planning, program management/construction management, financial planning and oversight, airport business partner management and contracting. She has extensive experience working with major airlines at some of the world’s busiest airports.

“Yvonne is well-regarded for her leadership on a wide range of aviation architecture projects in the U.S. and Europe,” said Chris Migneron, AIA, HNTB architecture national practice leader and vice president. “Her ability to establish trusted relationships and to closely partner with valued clients makes her another significant addition to the HNTB team.”

Prior to joining HNTB, Bilshausen recently served in a planning, design, construction and program management leadership role for a national architect/engineer/contractor firm. Her previous experience also includes working at London’s Heathrow Airport where she was responsible for the design and sustainable, integrated project delivery of Terminal 2B and extensive refurbishment of Terminal 3. She also managed numerous enabling projects for the World Gateway Program and executed project controls for O’Hare Modernization Program’s South Airfield Projects and O’Hare’s Capital Improvement Program.

“Yvonne combines technical design knowledge, program management proficiency, and industry relationships with effective communication skills,” said Laddie Irion, HNTB national aviation market sector leader and senior vice president. “She has proven experience in leading a wide variety of airport development programs for airport operators and airlines that is of great value to HNTB, and to our clients.”

Bilshausen earned a bachelor’s and a Master of Architecture, with emphasis on project management and sustainable design, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also attended the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture in Versailles, France.
