Joseph D’Ascoli is vice president of special operations for Global Elite Group Inc. He’s responsible for overseeing the special operations department’s field activities, command center and administration staff.

In this role, D’Ascoli provides the daily supervision of staff at all levels while coordinating client demands with operational logistics. He manages long term planning, budget evaluations and client security strategies. D’Ascoli manages the daily challenges that arise from the complex and varied services Global Elite Group provides.

“I just want to help make a difference and create a safe environment for passengers, our coworkers, the other people who work in the airport community and ensure that everyone is able to do these things without having fear, without having to be hyper focused on security,” he said. “After every major aviation attack or terrorist incident or breakdown, somewhere along the line, everyone becomes hyper focused.
“My goal is to help provide the best trained staff out there to provide the best services so that we can head off and prevent these kinds of attacks.”

Clients rely on D’Ascoli and his department to deliver specialized services in the realm of threat and risk assessments. This includes security logistical support, technology integration and support, specialized guard services including physical protection and training for clients and partners.

Many of the complex projects Global is involved with call for providing support in areas around the globe that may be in turmoil. This takes a very detailed approach. D’Ascoli and his team negotiate and troubleshoot diplomatic, regional, local and diverse business conflicts while ensuring client safety.

“Air travel brings people together, this unbelievable feat of human ingenuity is often overlooked,” he said. “By being surrounded by it daily, it allows immersion into alternate cultures, psychology of thought and reaching people who live literally on the other side of the world.”

D’Ascoli’s innovative approach addresses safety related concerns by initiating a thorough review of all components of the operation that could affect the outcome or future operational involvement. He implements a sound approach to ensure all components of the operation have been addressed, improved where needed and areas where failures are possible, reworked. He is valued for his ability to spot and address problems before they happen and reverse the course should a situation arise. Other areas of innovation where D’Ascoli excels is integrating the newest technology and pairing it with the services the company offers. 

He is always looking for new ways to improve processes through technology and best practices. He is a fervent study of threat identifiers which may hamper any project, and researches industry best practices, always looking for improvement.
