Daniel Douglas always knew aviation was the field for him ever since he was 2 years old, stumbling across a stack of old air show programs his father had.

“It was in high school I realized it was more the aircraft than it was flying that interested me, and that directed me down the maintenance road,” continued Douglas.

In his current role as the maintenance control manager at Northern Jet Management, Douglas is responsible for handling and overseeing all scheduled and non-scheduled AOG events.

“So that's coordinating offsite maintenance, in-house, scheduling and just staging parts where needed, doing what I can to keep the fleet flying,” he said.

It’s that variety that Douglas enjoys most about his work.

“I touch a little bit of it all, but the planning side, the return-to-service side. There's satisfaction in correcting issues or assisting troubleshooting on the road. That part of the role specifically is the most fun,” he said.

Douglas said there a few notable people who have helped shape his career and he extends his thanks to: Michael King, Steve Norris, Maurice Alyea, Zech Post and Shawn Petersen.

“There are very unique rewards to our industry. There's no way to describe the feeling of an aircraft just taxiing away after you've successfully corrected an issue, and it departs with your work being performed. That's a unique feeling to describe,” he said.
